At
the Sub-Conference on Immigration Management Cooperation, held as part of the Global
Public Safety Cooperation Forum 2026 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province,
China, officials said that from January to August this year, immigration
management agencies across China recorded a total of 499 million inbound and
outbound trips, an increase of 8.7 percent compared with the same
period last year.
Of
these, 242 million trips were made by mainland residents, 196 million
trips by residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 61.287 million
trips by foreign nationals. These figures represent increases of 10
percent, 8.9 percent and 19.5 percent, respectively, compared with the same
period last year.
Under
China’s visa-free policy, foreign nationals made 23.72 million trips to
China, accounting for 77.6 percent of all trips made by foreign
visitors. This marked an increase of 26.8 percent compared with the same
period last year.
