According to Xinhua, the Japan Meteorological Agency has urged residents in the affected areas to remain highly alert due to the risk of torrential rain and strong winds. According to the report, as of 9 a.m. local time on Sunday, Typhoon Dujuan, the 25th typhoon of the year, was moving northwestward over the sea south of Japan at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. Winds near the center of the typhoon were recorded at between 126 and 180 kilometers per hour.
The typhoon could make landfall on Monday on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, potentially bringing torrential rain, strong winds, and high waves. The conditions could increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. The typhoon is approaching Japan during a five-day holiday period. Residents in potentially affected areas have been urged to stay updated on the latest weather information and take necessary precautions. People in urban areas have also been advised to remain cautious about possible flooding on roads and in underground facilities.
