Plan Prepared to Block Routes in Rawalpindi and Islamabad Ahead of PTI Long March. Following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s announcement of a long march, authorities have begun implementing a security plan in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, including preparations to block major routes.  According to details, security measures have been initiated across Punjab, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to maintain law and order following PTI’s announcement of a long march on September 27. Police sources said a plan has been prepared for the possible closure of entry and exit routes to the twin cities, while containers and other barriers will be placed on key highways.

Sources said measures will also be taken to install barriers on routes coming from Attock, Kati Pahari, Jhelum Bridge, and Chakwal. Containers will also be placed on routes coming from Hazara, Murree, and Galiyat. It has been decided to tighten security at Taxila, Margalla Check Post, 26 Number Chungi, Tarnol, and surrounding areas. Measures will also be taken on routes leading to Rawalpindi and Islamabad from D-Chowk.  Additional police personnel will be deployed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from various districts of Punjab. Authorities have decided to take strict action against those who violate Section 144, block roads, damage public property, or take the law into their own hands. According to sources, security arrangements will also be made along the motorway, Islamabad Interchange, Hazara Expressway, GT Road, and Murree Expressway. Armored vehicles equipped to fire tear-gas shells and additional rubber bullets have also been requisitioned, while authorities are considering suspending mobile phone services. Red Zone-style security arrangements have been planned around Adiala Jail and its surrounding areas. Monitoring and search operations are also continuing at hotels and guesthouses in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to keep track of people staying there. According to police sources, the Punjab Inspector General of Police and Islamabad Inspector General of Police will take joint measures to maintain law and order.
