The Philippines has also begun turning to online rental accommodations to deal with the housing shortage. The Italian cruise ship Costa Serena will accommodate between 4,000 and 5,000 athletes. Basketball and football competitions at the Asian Games have already begun.
Heavy rain last week forced hundreds of athletes to be temporarily relocated to safe locations. More rain has been forecast for Nagoya, raising fears that the situation could become even more serious.
