Saudi Arabian authorities recorded 14,434 violations of residency, labor and border security laws over a one-week period and deported 12,363 illegal residents to their home countries. According to Urdu News, the Saudi Ministry of Interior said in a statement that between August 27 and September 2, a total of 7,121 residency law violations, 3,636 border security violations and 3,408 labor law violations were recorded. A total of 1,315 people were arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Of them, 58 percent were Ethiopian nationals, 41 percent were Yemenis, and 1 percent belonged to other countries. In addition, 42 people were arrested for attempting to cross the border from Saudi Arabia into neighboring countries. Authorities also detained 21 people for their involvement in providing transportation, accommodation, employment or shelter to illegal residents. The Ministry of Interior warned that anyone who facilitates the illegal entry of migrants into Saudi Arabia could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to 1 million Saudi riyals. Their vehicles and property may also be confiscated. Suspicious violations can be reported by calling the toll-free number 911 in Makkah and Riyadh, while residents in other parts of the Kingdom can call 999 or 996. It is worth noting that providing illegal residents in Saudi Arabia with transportation, accommodation or employment is a criminal offense under the law, and violators may face various penalties.
