He said he has also discussed the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump and his team, while he intends to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later this year.
Bill Gates and his foundation say that artificial intelligence can help reduce the gap between rich and poor countries, provided that access to the technology is made broad and equitable. The foundation has announced plans to spend at least $1 billion over the next two years to expand access to artificial intelligence.
The amount will be part of the foundation’s previously announced plan to spend $9 billion annually. The funds will be provided to partner organizations working on the use of artificial intelligence in the fields of education, healthcare, and agriculture. The foundation will also support the development of the data infrastructure required for artificial intelligence. Bill Gates said that the relationship had not caused any significant damage to either his reputation or that of his foundation.
