Israeli operations against civilians in Lebanon over the past three days have killed 27 people, most of them women, children and medical workers, while 69 others have been injured. According to Arab News, the airstrikes created a situation in Nabatieh, particularly in Ali Al-Taher, that local residents described as a “ring of fire.”
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the densely populated town of Kfar Rumman, near the Litani River north of Ali Al-Taher, killed 12 people and injured 10 others, including two children and four women. Three children and a medical worker were among the injured. The medical worker was later killed when Israel carried out a strike on a vehicle in the same town.
On Sunday, Israel targeted Arab Salim, Kfar Rumman, Nabatieh and its suburbs, including Mifdoun, Al-Kfour and Al-Ramadiyah. The attacks killed 11 people and injured 26 others. The attacks followed a series of strikes carried out from Friday night through Saturday. Earlier attacks had killed four people and injured 32 others, including women and children.
Lebanon’s Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar expressed his condolences over the death of Hiba Ali Sabah, an employee of the ministry. She was killed on Monday morning along with her husband and daughter when a residential building in the Kfar Rumman area was targeted. Mohammad Haidar said his brother-in-law, his wife and his father-in-law were also killed in the attack. He said, “This is another addition to the list of Israeli crimes against Lebanese civilians and demonstrates the seriousness of attacks on residential areas.”
On Monday, loud explosions were heard across southern Lebanon as Israel targeted the coastal area of Al-Mansouri and Houla, destroying several homes. During the night between Sunday and Monday, the Israeli military issued a warning to evacuate a building in the Deir Al-Zahrani area of southern Lebanon. Approximately 22 minutes later, the building was destroyed. Following these latest violations of the fragile ceasefire by Israel, people have once again begun fleeing Nabatieh and other areas.
Israeli military spokesperson Ella Waweya said, “These operations were carried out in response to blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement by the terrorist organization Hezbollah.” She also said that “Hezbollah had sent explosive-laden drones toward Israeli military personnel, following which the army carried out operations against the group.” Less than 24 hours earlier, the Israeli military had targeted the Ministry of Finance building and Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh.
Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar described the attack as “a blatant violation of all international laws and agreements” and called on “the international community and international organizations to take immediate and serious action to stop Israeli crimes and attacks.”
