Polling for the election of
the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be held on September 24. The
Azad Jammu Kashmir Election Commission have officially issued the schedule for
the presidential election. Speaking at a
press conference while announcing the schedule, Chief Election Commissioner
Justice (retd.) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said that presidential candidates can
submit their nomination papers at the office of the Chief Election
Commissioner/Returning Officer from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on September 19.
The scrutiny of nomination
papers will also be conducted on September 19, immediately after the submission
of the papers. Presidential candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination
papers until 11:30 a.m. on September 23. The Chief Election Commissioner of
Azad Jammu and Kashmir will perform the duties of the Returning Officer for the
presidential election.
The Chief Election
Commissioner said polling for the presidential election will be held on
September 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hall of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes will begin immediately after
polling concludes. Justice (retd.)
Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has requested the acting President of Azad Jammu and
Kashmir to summon a session of the Legislative Assembly on September 24 for the
presidential election.
