Dubai Launches First Public Train Service

Dubai has launched its first public train service, with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan traveling by train from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. According to Arab media reports, the launch of the first public train service in Dubai has taken place as the UAE President traveled from Abu Dhabi to Dubai by train. The Etihad Rail passenger service will operate five times a day between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The launch of the train service connecting the emirates drew large crowds at Dubai Station, where residents expressed their excitement and celebrated by dancing. The journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi will take approximately one hour and four minutes, while a direct trip from Dubai to Fujairah will take around one hour and 10 minutes. Passengers will have access to reserved seating, Wi-Fi and power outlets on board the trains. The initial one-way fare from Dubai to Abu Dhabi has been set at 39 dirhams.
