Following the cancellation of their Kuwaiti citizenship, nearly 3,000 women have applied for Syrian citizenship. The Syrian Embassy has stated that 2,771 women who were deported from Kuwait have submitted applications for citizenship. Syrian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Tamim Al Madani said the embassy has so far received 1,277 applications from women whose Kuwaiti citizenship had been revoked and who now wish to regularize their status regarding Syrian citizenship. In a statement to the newspaper, Al Madani confirmed that the embassy is finalizing the necessary documents to send the files to the relevant authorities in Syria. The files will then be closely monitored and followed up. He said that processing has been completed in 1,270 cases so far, while work on the remaining applications is ongoing. He further stated that the number of consular services completed by the embassy since January has reached 46,852, including various services provided to the Syrian community living in Kuwait. He said the embassy provides a wide range of consular services and is continuing efforts to organize appointments and queues, simplify application procedures, and clarify the required documents in advance.
