the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that it will achieve the tax collection
target set for the first quarter. During talks between Pakistan and the IMF on
the fourth economic review, the government assured the IMF that the Federal
Board of Revenue (FBR) would achieve the tax collection target of Rs3.053
trillion set for the first quarter. FBR officials assured the IMF that not only
would the September revenue collection target of Rs1.33 trillion be achieved,
but the overall tax collection target for the first quarter from July to
September 2026 would also be met.

income tax returns have been received so far for Tax Year 2026, compared with
3.2 million income tax returns filed during the same period last year. Federal
government officials in grades 17 to 22 will be required to electronically
