Major General Faisal Naseer is a
senior officer of the Pakistan Army who has been associated with Military
Intelligence and has spent a significant part of his career serving in
intelligence, counterterrorism, and security-related matters. He has also
served as the Director General of Counter-Intelligence at Inter-Services
Intelligence (ISI). Major General Faisal Naseer is a recipient of the
Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.
The federal
government has appointed him as NACTA’s National Coordinator for a three-year
period on deputation. In this role, he will play an important part in
coordinating among various institutions involved in counterterrorism efforts
across the country.
According
to reports, military officer Faisal Naseer was promoted to the rank of Major
General in 2022, after which he was posted to Pakistan’s intelligence agency,
ISI, in August 2022. He served
as the head of the ISI’s internal wing, which is commonly referred to as the
“Political Wing” or simply “C.” This position is generally known as DG-C. It is
important to note that in this context, “C” does not stand for
Counter-Intelligence; rather, it is simply a letter used as part of the
internal designation of the wing. Similar abbreviations such as DG-A and DG-B
are also used within the ISI.
