Karachi: Police have
launched a crackdown against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in the
Artillery Maidan area of Karachi, arresting 24 workers and registering a case
against 100 to 150 unidentified individuals. According to police, FIR No. 56/2026 was
registered on behalf of the state under Sections 147, 149, 186 and 188 of the
Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the FIR,
PTI workers, led by Aleem Adil Sheikh, were marching from Fourah Chowk towards
the Karachi Press Club. The protesters were carrying banners and sticks.
Police said security
personnel tried to stop the rally and informed the participants that Section
144 had been imposed in the Red Zone by the Sindh government. However, the
protesters allegedly became aggressive and resisted officials in the
performance of their duties. Police have
launched a further investigation into the incident, while efforts are underway
to identify and arrest the remaining unidentified individuals.
