An
Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the passports of Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers to be blocked. The ATC in the
federal capital heard a petition concerning the passports of PTI lawmakers.
Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain announced the court’s decision in the
case. The court ordered that the
passports of 24 PTI members of the National Assembly and provincial
assemblies be blocked. Earlier, the same court had issued arrest warrants
for three PTI members of the National Assembly and 12 members of provincial
assemblies in a case related to the November 26 protest. The court issued
the arrest warrants in a case registered at Kohsar Police Station. Those named
in the arrest warrants include Shah Ahad, Sher Ali Arbab, Zubair Wazir,
Babar Saleem Swati, Muhammad Usman, Asif Mehsud, and Ajab Gul, among
others.
Meanwhile,
Lahore Police raided the homes of 452 active Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
workers. However, several activists had already gone into hiding fearing
arrest. According to police sources, Lahore Police has arrested 30 active
PTI leaders and workers. Following PTI’s call for a protest in Islamabad on
September 27, arrests of PTI workers began in Lahore. Lahore Police
raided the homes of 452 active PTI workers, while several activists had already
gone into hiding due to fears of arrest. According to police sources, 30 active
PTI leaders and workers have been arrested.
According
to police sources, 122 workers’ homes were raided in the Saddar
Division, 111 in the Model Town Division, 142 in the Cantt
Division, and 77 in the Civil Lines Division. Police officials said that
arrests are being carried out against those involved in activities that could
disrupt law and order. Lahore Police also arrested three key PTI leaders
on Saturday.
