Amir Jamaat-e-Islami announces Islamabad March on September 20.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has announced a march towards Islamabad on September 20, saying that decisions will now be made on the streets.  Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, he said that the sit-ins would not end unless the petroleum levy is abolished. He said the containers placed in Islamabad could not stop their march. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that they have Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C, adding that it would be better for the government not to create a situation that could worsen tensions and to allow the public's routine activities in Islamabad to continue peacefully.  He said diesel prices were "touching the sky" and asked whether fares had been reduced accordingly. He also questioned whether there was an app for this and asked what relief had been provided to the public through the railways.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that a lockdown was unacceptable under any circumstances. He said another round of negotiations with the government was scheduled for 6 p.m. today. He said the government was asking where it would generate revenue from if the petroleum levy were reduced. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said he had presented a complete formula for reducing petroleum product prices, but the government was only giving presentations in response. He said he had instructed his team that if the government continued to delay the matter in the same manner, the negotiations should be ended. He also questioned why a government aircraft in Punjab was being used for private purposes, saying that an audit should be conducted to determine how and why the aircraft was purchased.

Meanwhile, according to sources, a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party was held in Peshawar, where detailed preparations for the September 27 long march were reviewed.  According to reports regarding the meeting, PTI has indicated that it may begin the long march before September 27 and has instructed its party organizations to set up camps along the Punjab border.  PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Khan said that party workers should identify suitable locations along the border routes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where camps can be established.  Meanwhile, party sources said that PTI has prepared three different plans for the September 27 protest, including separate plans for traveling via the GT Road and the motorway.  The sources further said that the party leadership would announce the final plan within three to four days.

Junaid Akbar told the meeting that, given the treatment of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the approach of the federal government, the march could also be launched before September 27. He instructed members of the provincial assembly, all party organizations, and workers to remain prepared, saying that a call could be given at any time. He said separate plans had been prepared for routes via the motorway and the GT Road. It may be recalled that PTI has announced a long march towards Islamabad on September 27. In this regard, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has already launched a street movement. After Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has arrived in Lahore to lead the movement in Punjab, where he has spent two busy days.
