Britain is preparing to impose new
restrictions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian
territories. According to British media reports,
Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband will present details of the new measures in
Parliament today. Under the proposed restrictions, the purchase of goods
produced in Israeli settlements will be banned, while trade in agricultural
products originating from the settlements will also be restricted. Meanwhile, Israel has warned that it
will retaliate if Britain implements the new measures. The British government’s
move is being seen as a significant shift in its policy towards Palestine.
