According to the U.S. newspaper, Trump has told his aides that bombing Iran could resume after the November midterm elections. Citing officials, the newspaper reported that Trump does not believe Tehran will accept his demands. Meanwhile, reports by CNN and The Atlantic claim that some of Trump’s outside advisers are urging him to impose martial law during the upcoming midterm elections and take control of federal elections. According to CNN, these advisers are concerned about the possibility of Democrats making gains in the elections.
According to the reports, some of Trump’s other advisers have spent months trying to steer him away from unfounded theories about election fraud. However, a group of outside advisers is reportedly doing the opposite, encouraging him to take steps to gain greater control over elections. The Atlantic reported that Peter Ticktin, a longtime associate and attorney for Trump ally Tina Peters, has discussed the possibility of martial law being imposed during the midterm elections. CNN also reported that Ticktin has spoken about the possibility of riots if Trump were to attempt to overturn the results of the 2026 midterm elections. However, these are reportedly suggestions and claims made by outside advisers, rather than an announcement or formal policy of the Trump administration. The White House has told The Atlantic that figures such as Ticktin and Peters do not play a role in election policy at the White House.
