Motorway M-1 has been completely closed in both directions from the Islamabad Toll Plaza to the Chachh Interchange. Authorities said traffic movement at the Islamabad Toll Plaza, Tarnol, Sangjani, Brahma Bahtar, Burhan, Hazara Motorway, Ghazi and Chachh interchanges will remain suspended until further notice. Similarly, Motorway M-14 has been sealed to all traffic from Hakla to Kundal. All interchanges along this route, including Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Khairpur, Tarap, Daud Khel, Kot Balian, Isa Khel and Kundal, have also been closed to prevent any possible advance. The GT Road N-5 has also been closed to traffic in both directions at Attock Khurd.
The closures have caused severe difficulties for travelers, while the administration has instructed citizens to use alternative routes. The Motorway Police said the decision to close these highways was taken in view of the prevailing security situation. All the aforementioned routes will remain closed until further notice, and a decision to reopen them will be made only after reviewing the situation to ensure public safety. Travelers and transporters have been advised to obtain the latest information on road conditions and routes before setting out. According to officials, the purpose of placing barriers at key locations is to prevent any protest convoys from advancing toward the capital or other sensitive areas. The administration has directed that no negligence be allowed in security arrangements, while surveillance on the highways has been further tightened to maintain law and order.
