Flight operations at all three major airports serving New York are also expected to be affected.
The weather service has warned that the storm will hit the East Coast over the weekend and could affect areas from Maine to Washington, D.C. In some areas, wind speeds could reach 55 miles per hour, or approximately 89 kilometers per hour, making driving difficult. New York Governor Kathy Hochul urged residents to take the storm seriously, saying that measures are being taken to respond to emergencies in affected areas. New York City authorities have also warned residents about possible basement flooding, power outages, and travel disruptions.
