The first convoy of trucks, decorated with the flags of Russia and North Korea, crossed the one-kilometer-long bridge during the inaugural ceremony. The prime ministers of Russia and North Korea also addressed the ceremony via video link.
The two countries had been discussing the construction of the bridge for several years. The project was agreed upon during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea last year.
