70 Percent of Americans Dissatisfied with Trump over Iran War

A new national survey has revealed a clear divide in the views of Americans regarding President Donald Trump’s performance and the ongoing U.S. military operation against Iran. According to the latest Fox News poll, 39 percent of registered voters approved of the president’s overall job performance, while 61 percent disapproved. Regarding the decision to launch military action against Iran, 60 percent of American voters said the decision was wrong, while 37 percent considered it the right decision. In the June survey, 58 percent of voters had said that military action against Iran was wrong, meaning that the shareholding this view has increased by 2 percentage points in the latest poll.

The survey also raised questions about the Trump administration’s strategy for ending the war with Iran. Seventy-one percent of voters said the administration does not have a clear strategy for ending the conflict, including 95 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of independents, and 43 percent of Republicans. Regarding the potential impact of the Iran war on U.S. security, 47 percent of voters said the conflict would make the United States less safe in the long run, while 32 percent believed it would make the country safer. Twenty percent said the conflict would have no significant impact on U.S. security.

The survey also recorded varying levels of approval for President Trump’s performance in different areas. Forty-three percent of voters approved of his handling of immigration, while the figure was 37 percent for foreign policy and just 24 percent for inflation. According to the survey, the cost of living and inflation emerged as the most important issues for Americans in their daily lives. Thirty-four percent of voters identified the cost of living as the country’s most important issue, while 14 percent cited the economy and jobs. In the same Fox News poll, 61 percent of voters said gas prices were a major problem, while 62 percent said grocery prices were a major problem.

Meanwhile, a recent Reuters/Imposes poll also recorded President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating at 35 percent, slightly up from 33 percent in the previous survey. The poll found that 63 percent of Americans disapproved of Trump’s performance. In the Reuters/Imposes survey, 44 percent of respondents said they would support Democratic candidates in the generic congressional ballot, compared with 37 percent who preferred Republican candidates. These figures also demonstrate the differences that can exist between polls, as results may vary depending on the questions asked, the sample, and the methodology used.  The latest Fox News poll was conducted from September 11 to 14, 2026, among 1,211 registered voters. The survey had a margin of sampling error of up to 3 percentage points. The Reuters/Imposes poll was also conducted in September. Both surveys come as the Iran war continues and the effects of the conflict on energy prices, military pressure, and the U.S. economy have become major issues in the American political debate.
