According to reports, a man named Anthony Kazmierczak admitted targeting Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and spraying vinegar on her due to political differences. After hearing the case, the court sentenced Anthony Kazmierczak to 14 months in prison for the incident and his involvement in the act. During the court hearing, Kazmierczak apologized to the court and to the congresswoman for his actions.
According to his lawyer and prosecutors, Kazmierczak has some health problems, particularly Parkinson’s disease, and was under significant stress at the time of the incident. Under a plea agreement reached with prosecutors, the court convicted Anthony Kazmierczak of assaulting a federal official and sentenced him to 14 months in prison. The court also ordered him to remain under supervision for three years following his release and prohibited him from contacting Ilhan Omar.
