Microsoft has introduced
advanced AI models, security technology and the Surface Laptop Ultra to expand
the capabilities of personal computers, rather than limiting the use of
artificial intelligence to cloud-based services. The company’s main objective is
to turn Windows devices into platforms for AI agents capable of carrying out
complex business projects and demanding tasks such as coding locally on users’
computers. As part of this initiative, Microsoft has unveiled the Surface
Laptop Ultra, equipped with powerful Nvidia chips. This technology will allow
tasks that were previously limited to expensive Azure cloud data centers to be
performed directly on users’ Windows computers.
Microsoft’s vision is to make
desktop computers a secure environment for AI agents. To address the security
challenges associated with advanced AI agents, the company has introduced a
technology called MXC. Company officials say the system will prevent AI agents
from accessing sensitive data or system resources without the user’s
permission. Major companies such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Nvidia are also
expected to use these security tools.
Microsoft has also introduced
advanced AI models that can run directly on PCs without a cloud connection,
including Nvidia’s Nemotron model. A new version of Deep Seek will also run
effectively on computers equipped with 60 gigabytes of memory. However, rising
hardware costs could become an obstacle to the widespread adoption of this
technology. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,599, with prices
reaching as high as $5,899. According to analysts, while the development
represents a major software achievement, a shortage of memory chips and rising
hardware prices could make it difficult for ordinary consumers to access this
powerful AI technology.
