Authorities continue to extend and tighten
restrictions under Section 144 in major cities across Pakistan to maintain law
and order and prevent potential unrest. In this regard, the administration has
warned citizens to comply fully with the official orders. In Karachi, the
enforcement of Section 144 has been extended for another 10 days amid security
concerns and efforts to maintain law and order. According to an official
notification, the restrictions impose a complete ban on protests,
demonstrations, sit-ins, and rallies across the city.
The order also prohibits gatherings of more than
five people at any single location. District authorities have made it clear
that immediate and strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating
these restrictions. Meanwhile, the district administration in the federal
capital, Islamabad, has also issued strict directives regarding Section 144,
warning residents against violating the restrictions. According to the
instructions issued by the authorities, all kinds of gatherings and assemblies
are prohibited in the capital, and no unlawful assembly will be permitted.
In a statement, the district administration said
that restrictions on gatherings in Islamabad were being enforced not only under
Section 144 but also under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024. The
administration warned that individuals violating the provisions of this Act
could face imprisonment for up to three years. District authorities have
strongly urged citizens to act responsibly, refrain from participating in any
unlawful activities or gatherings, and extend full cooperation to security
agencies.
