The Trump administration has announced that more than 50,000 additional
visas have been revoked in the United States, bringing the total number of
revoked visas to approximately 300,000. According to international media
reports, the United States has revoked more than 300,000 visas so far as part
of its immigration crackdown. The US Department of State said that the
revocations had taken place since President Donald Trump returned to power in
January 2025. The visas were revoked on various grounds, including criminal
offences, inciting violence against the United States or American citizens,
defrauding US citizens, abusing the immigration system and posing threats to
national security. Against this backdrop, the screening and vetting process for
individuals seeking to immigrate to or enter the United States is also being
tightened further.
