Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur has been taken into
custody by law enforcement agencies. According to details, a hearing was held
at the Islamabad District and Sessions Courts in an audio leak case registered
against Gandapur at Golra Police Station. During the hearing, his lawyer
formally informed the court that the former chief minister had already been
arrested, making it impossible for him to appear in court.
The case was heard by Additional District and
Sessions Judge Hakim Khan Bhakkar. At the beginning of the proceedings, Raja
Zahoor, counsel for Gandapur, appeared before the court to represent him.
Farooq, a co-accused in the case, also appeared before the court. Defence
lawyer Raja Zahoor informed the court that Gandapur had intended to appear in
court that day in compliance with the law. However, he was unable to attend
because he had already been taken into custody.
During the hearing, the defence lawyer argued
that since the accused was already in lawful custody, issuing fresh arrest
warrants would serve no administrative or legal purpose. Witness statements
could also not be recorded because of Gandapur’s unavailability and security
concerns. Consequently, the court postponed the recording of witness testimony
until the next hearing. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court
adjourned further proceedings in the audio leak case against the former Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa chief minister until November 27. The case was registered against
Ali Amin Gandapur at Islamabad’s Golra Police Station in connection with audio
leaks. Legal proceedings in the case remain pending before the session’s court.
