Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are facing difficulties in restoring their popularity in the United Kingdom. Despite efforts to ease tensions with the royal family, the British public has yet to forgive the couple. According to Jasmine Carey, a royal affairs reporter for a British publication, Prince Harry’s inability to meet his father, King Charles, is not his only disappointment. An even greater setback is that public attitudes towards him and Meghan Markle have remained unchanged.
Carey said that more than two months have passed since Prince Harry returned to the UK, but he has still been unable to meet his father, King Charles. She noted that one of the reasons for his return was to reconnect with relatives in the royal family; however, he has not been able to spend much time with them. According to Carey, the lack of public support for Harry and Meghan could be a source of reassurance for Prince William and his wife, Catherine. She argued that if public support remains with other members of the royal family rather than Harry and Meghan, the couple will be unable to establish a rival royal circle.
