London: Daylight Saving Time has
come to an end in the British capital, London, and clocks across the United
Kingdom will be set back by one hour tonight. According to international media
reports, when clocks reach 2 a.m. on the night between Saturday and Sunday,
they will be turned back to 1 a.m., marking the beginning of winter time in the
United Kingdom. This arrangement will remain in effect until March 29 next
year, when clocks will be moved forward by one hour again.
Experts say the time change is implemented to
make better use of available daylight and improve energy efficiency during the
winter months, when daylight hours are shorter. Reports indicate that the
change will give residents an additional hour of sleep on Sunday morning. However,
the time on smartphones, laptops and other modern electronic devices will
adjust automatically, while wall clocks and car clocks will need to be changed
manually. Following the end of Daylight Saving Time, the time difference
between the United Kingdom and Pakistan will increase by one hour to five
hours. The change is also expected to bring minor adjustments to daily
routines, office schedules and school timings across Britain.
